Eduventure to Singapore | Architecture Study Tour

5 Days

Overview

Singapore is a city where modern architecture abounds, yet you can still find numerous colonial buildings from the time of its founding by Sir Stamford Raffles, along with structures reflecting Malay, Chinese, and Hindu influences. You'll encounter a variety of temples representing many religions, contributing to the city's distinct multicultural character. It’s an ideal time to visit this city-state. The Highlights of the Industrial Visit to Singapore This industrial visit to Singapore will showcase a range of architectural influences and styles from different eras and regions. From the eclectic styles and hybrid forms of the colonial period to contemporary architecture incorporating global trends, Singapore’s architecture spans a broad spectrum. In both aesthetic and technological terms, Singaporean architecture is characterised by the traditional pre-World War II colonial period and the modern post-war and post-colonial period. Traditional architecture in Singapore includes vernacular Malay houses, local hybrid shophouses, black and white bungalows, a variety of places of worship reflecting the city-state’s ethnic and religious diversity, as well as colonial civic and commercial buildings in European Neoclassical, Gothic, Palladian, and Renaissance styles.
